Last evening I visited an old friend on the web. My friend's name is the Devil's Dictionary by Ambrose Bierce. The dictionary is always good for a laugh. But it also contains a wealth of social commentary. Moreover, though it was written around the turn of the century, many of the entries are appropos for today. In fact, there are many entries where you can't tell from the language, that they are almost a hundred years old. As an experiment in blogging, I will try to include a link ...

I finally retired last January. After flurry of activity to catch up with all the projects that I promised I would do as soon as I retired (How was I to know that my wife actually kept a list!) things have started to slow down and I have some time to take stock and do some reading and thinking that I never seemed to have time to do when I was doing my 40-plus hours every week.
